Soup and Bread

Soup & Bread Feb 1

solidaritystewWhen we launched Soup & Bread this year with a theme of “sanctuary,” we didn’t realize our focus on the soups of Chicago’s immigrants would be quite so timely and … we really wish it wasn’t. But we’re bringing back seven more this week. We know you’ve got a lot to digest already but — speaking of digestion — you’ve also got to eat.

This week’s soup cooks include:

Cinnamon Cooper
Amy Eaton
Caroline O’Boyle
Kirsten Lambert
Julie Sampson
Mark Palmieri from Local Foods
Heidi Coudal from Big Delicious Planet
and our pals Anne and Mike from Sauce and Bread Kitchen

Plus: Cake from Celestial Kitchens! The past two weeks our friend Celeste Dolan has brought incredible cakes for the crowd, including a ridiculously delicious and apropos “Everything’s Bananas Cake” made with an excessive amount of bourbon. What will this week bring? Come and find out. We’ll also have bread from Publican Quality Bread and music courtesy of the Hideout’s own Sullivan Davis. Our partner food pantry this week is Association House, in Humboldt Park.

See you soon, in soup and solidarity.
