Wahoo! Soup & Bread got a Living Room Realty microgrant!
The LRR program is designed to provide a little bit of support for projects that “go above and beyond to give to the community.” I’m thrilled to be recognized along with CPS music teacher Ausberto Acevedo and the fine folks at Comfort Station. You can read all about it here.
As the release says, this winter I’m going to follow the money out of the bar and into the city and talk with administrators, volunteers, and clients at the various food pantries and soup kitchens Soup & Bread benefits. Through text, photos, and video we aim to take the human measure of hunger and hunger-relief efforts in the wake of cuts to federal SNAP funds and the looming end of extended federal unemployment benefits (hey, happy New Year). Where the Soup & Bread Cookbook documented the experience of cooking for (and eating at) Soup & Bread, this year the idea is to show Soup & Bread participants and the general public the impact of their work – and the need for it — out in the world.
Watch this space for more. Thanks again Living Room!
