Also, an announcement: This year we’re partnering again with our across-the-alley neighbors Local Foods, who will be providing a piping hot soup EVERY WEEK. As they did last year, they are also generously offering a selection of free and discounted ingredients to Soup & Bread cooks, and the folks at the Butcher and Larder (who’ve moved into the Local Foods space) are again offering free bones for stock. Interested cooks should contact Jamie at Local Foods (jamie [at] local foods [dot] com) to find out what’s available each week.
Last but not least, if you can’t wait till January, the Hideout Holiday Sale, which runs 6-9 pm December 8 and 22 at the Hideout (1354 W. Wabansia), is this year doubling as a fundraiser for Soup & Bread. Each night we will have small samples of soup from Local Foods (both nights), Mana Food Bar (12/8), and Jennifer Quinlan (12/22) on offer, along with cookbooks for sale and information about the upcoming season. Your pay-what-you-can donations go to helping us keep things running in the coming months.
Thanks – and see you soon!
(Also: If you are in Nebraska this weekend, we are very curious about the Willa Cather Foundation’s December Night Soup Showdown. Please report back.)
