Soup & Bread: The river

Bf7Tu19CQAAnWqgAs rivers of melting snow start flooding Chicago’s streets, we at Soup & Bread celebrate the rushing waters with this week’s theme, “The River.” Which could mean …. crayfish bisque? Trout stew? Or just plain old river-tumbled-stone soup? Come and find out with our guest cooks Erin Drain (from Cream Wine), Steve Hinger, John Robinson, Drew from Flesh for Food, and more to come as we round them up. Speaking of … do you want to make soup? This week or next? Or in March? Let us know – plenty of spots are still available.

Behind the decks is DJ Bloodshot Scott — who is so jazzed about this gig that he made posters (quite possibly a Soup & Bread DJ first). Pay what you can donations go to benefit Chicago’s longest continuously operating food pantry, the Common Pantry in Ravenswood.

And just a quick update on last week’s mad action: We had a huge turnout for Love is Love at the MCA on the 7th (pictured above), raising $857 for the Chicago Help Initiative. And this past week we gleaned another $645 for our friends at Casa Catalina in Back of the Yards. We’re going down to take them the check next Wednesday and will report back. Thanks to all the guests at both events for their generous donations.
