We’re back!
Soup & Bread returns this month with another slate of soups from Chicago’s most generous cooks. February’s installment features soup from Jen Moniz, Julie Sampson, Jennifer Quinlan, Eileen D’Ambrogio, Ashley Simone, Etta Worthington, Brad Knaub/Carnivore Oak Park, and Stone Temple Baptist Church’s “Soup For the Soul” project. I don’t know what everyone is making but I have heard rumblings of a bean soup, a lentil soup, a ribollita, at least one vegan soup … come out and be surprised by the rest 🙂
Bread is once again generously donated by Publican Quality Bread and Middlebrow Bread. And as ever children are welcome at Soup & Bread with parent or guardian.
Last month we raised $600 in pay-what-you-can donations (cash or Venmo) for the Woodlawn-based Market Box program. This month’s donations benefit Soup for the Soul, which has been feeding the North Lawndale community in various ways since the start of the pandemic in 2020. For more on what they do, see this 2021 article from Free Spirit Media.
Our final Soup & Bread for 2023 will be March 29. We’re full up on cooks at this point, fyi, but looking forward to sharing one more meal with you as we turn the corner into spring.
