Soup and Bread

Soup & Bread: Chicago, crowdsourced edition

The sixth season of Soup & Bread: Chicago kicks off Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at 5:30 pm at the Hideout. We’re still sorting out the details  — watch this space — but one thing’s for sure:  Last year’s themes were such a hit with cooks and eaters alike that we’re bringing them back again.

But, not the same themes, silly. Instead, we want your help. Last year we broke them out into three alarmingly loose categories: culinary (“noodles, dumplings, and kreplach”; “all things cow-nsidered”), geographic (“NY vs. LA”; “our neighbors to the north”) , and wild-card (“love, lust, and hate”; “green”).

This year, we’re all ears. What themes would you like to see manifest in soup format and in your bowl? Please let us know! No idea too ridiculous.

Also, once again we’re on the hunt for a small crew of reliable volunteers. If you’d like to contribute your time to the cause, please get in touch with Martha at soupnbread10 [at] gmail.com. Volunteering could include both help with events on-site Wednesday afternoons at the Hideout and some desperately needed, if less glamorous, administrative help behind the scenes.

And … that’s it! Hope to hear from you soon, so that we may immediately start regretting that “no idea too ridiculous” comment.

PS: Also, also, while we’re at it, here’s a reminder to follow us on Twitter @soupandbread, and on Facebook . (DON’T join our Facebook group; that’s going to disappear, any day now.)
