Aunt Fanny’s Pasta Soup with Little Meatballs

From Cathy Lambrecht

Serves 6 to 8

[Ed: Cathy picked up this hearty, homey soup from a segment on WGN’s “Lunchbreak,” which, in turn, borrowed it from the book Cook’s Country Best Lost Suppers, which credits it to a Barbara “Bee” Engelhart, of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Click the links for more back story than you could ever want, and the recipe, which I’m not providing here as I’ve been given to understand that Cook’s Illustrated is rather aggressive about content they lay copyright too, even if posted with adaptations and with proper attribution. But do note that Cathy made this her very own by using home-canned tomatoes from last summer.]

UPDATE: Here’s the link to the original recipe, on Bee’s own site.  Recipe copyright law … it’s lifetime learning.
