Soup & Bread: Chicago has fiscal sponsorship through the Social Good Fund — a San Francisco-based nonprofit that provides administrative infrastructure to noncommercial projects working for social change.
What this means on the ground in Chicago is that while donations made at our events will still go directly to food pantries and other hunger relief organizations, you can now help support our general operating costs from afar by making a tax-deductible contribution to Soup & Bread: Chicago via the fund.
Our operating costs are not high, but they are ongoing: bowls and spoons and ladles; laundry and gasoline; web hosting; labor. Until now, most of these have been covered through book sales, through our own out-of-pocket contributions, and thanks to the generosity of the folks at the Hideout. In the case of labor, they have simply gone unpaid. By joining up with Social Good we aim to more firmly separate our administrative costs from the event-based fundraising that is our mission.
Your contribution — Pay what you can! Send $10 and we’ll ship you a set of six recipe cards (five soups, one bread).
For a $25 donation we’ll send you one of our adorable new, limited-run Soup & Bread bowls (above) UPDATE! We are out of bowls. But we have prints, posters, and other miscellany from the past few years. Donate $25 and we’ll send you a surprise gift pack.
Money we raise online above our operating costs will go to our partner food pantries.
