Soup and Bread

Calling all cooks!

A winter tradition since 2009, Soup & Bread has over six years raised more than $50,000 for Chicago-area food pantries and hunger-relief organizations. Our seventh season kicks off on January 7 at the Hideout and, as ever, we want YOU to donate soup. If you want to be as warm and happy as the folks featured above, please get in touch at soupnbread10 [at] gmail [dot] com with your preferred date(s) to cook and we will get you on the schedule, pronto. No competitions, no prizes, no fancy themes. Just soup and bread. And probably pie.

Bonus! We are excited to announce that our new neighbors Local Foods will be offering ingredients each week for donation and for sale to Soup & Bread soup makers. Local Foods is a food hub and wholesale distributor working with dozens of area farmers, restaurants, and stores. In spring 2015, Local Foods will open a new retail grocery store on Willow St., directly behind the Hideout, offering local meats, dairy, fruits, vegetables, and pantry items, and featuring an artisan butcher shop and cafe. Check back with us soon for more info on how to get ingredients, and mark your calendars for:

I just found out about this amazing event! Do you still need soup for 3/18 or 3/25? I can do either date and would love to be involved!

    Cheers!
